Since 1 September 2011, when the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education gained the authority for recognition of foreign VET school qualifications, until 31 December 2015, the Agency has received 6837 applications for recognition of foreign VET school qualifications, out of which 6061 qualifications were fully recognized, or 89% of total applications received.

Remaining 776 (11%) applications, that were not recognized, were for various reasons rejected, declined, suspended or forwarded to other competent bodies. It is important to note that, in the stated period, the Agency had 109 cases of suspected forgery of foreign school diplomas and certificates for which we have submitted criminal charges to the State Attorneys Office of the Republic of Croatia.

The following graph shows relation between received applications and recognized qualifications for the period from 1 September 2011 until 31 December 2015.

Over the last four years the Agency has developed strong international cooperation with other relevant institutions in the qualification recognition system, both in EU and other countries, for the purpose of mutual help and to raise quality and efficiency of the recognition process. Also, as a national body in the qualification recognition system, the Agency issued a great number of official opinions and reviews on foreign education systems to schools, employers and citizens in the Republic of Croatia. Except on European education systems the Agency also issued opinions and reviews on education systems of China, USA, Russia, Japan, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Uruguay, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Nigeria, Yemen and India.
