European Vocational Skills Week 2020

European Vocational Skills Week is the European Commission’s annual initiative aimed at promoting the potential of VET. The initiative’s motto is “Discover your talent!”

The Week 2020 will be a hybrid event, held live in Berlin and online throughout the European Union, gathering stakeholders that will share their expertise. This year’s campaign theme is VET for Green and Digital Transitions, in line with the Commission priorities of a “European Green Deal” and a “Europe fit for the digital age”.

The main objectives of the initiative are:

  • Present numerous ways in which VET can help youths and adults to “discover their talent”
  • Inform employers of the advantages of investing in human resources by supporting the initial training of young employees, as well as upskilling and reskilling of adults
  • Substantiate the choice of VET by presenting its competitive values
  • Raising awareness of European Vocational Skills Week based on the success of previous campaigns.

Marko Pavlović, product designer, has been selected as Croatia’s Ambassador for the European Vocational Skills Week 2020. His story is an excellent example of using one’s talents and directing one’s career through VET. You can find out more about the Ambassador and his work here.

Marko is currently employed as an independent designer and external associate to Croatian and international firms, creating unique design solutions focused on toys and puzzles. He participates in international exhibitions and contests and has received prestigious awards for product design. The latest toy he designed is a 3D puzzle called Lagiq Tower. With more than 22 thousand possible solutions in four levels, it could undoubtedly become one of the most challenging brain teasers on the market.

Agency for VET and Adult Education, as a national reference point for the European Skills Week, encourages you to participate in the Week 2020 by registering the events in your institutions, share your experience and applying for the Excellence Award. We invite you to share all relevant information about this event and your participation on social media, using the Week’s hashtags:

#EUVocationalSkills and #DiscoverYourTalent.
