Digital competences for teachers

Project “Digital Competence for Teachers” was implemented by the Agency for VET and Adult Education (AVETAE) under the Erasmus+ program, Key Activity 2 in the field of general education. The project’s aim was to create a portal that enables e-learning and training in the field of five digital competences:

  • recognizing the need for information;
  • finding and collecting information using a computer;
  • analysis and evaluation of information;
  • use (storage, creation and display) of information using a computer;
  • publishing and exchanging information using the internet.

The purpose of the project was to increase the training of teachers for the safe and critical use of information and communication technology for work, in personal and social life and in communication.

The Agency for VET and Adult Education was the project coordinator, and the project was implemented in cooperation with 5 partner institutions from Slovenia (PIA, Informacijski sistemi in storitve d.o.o. i Miška d.o.o.), Spain (Fundación para la Formación, la Cualificación y el Empleo en el Sector Metal de Asturias), Lihuania (Kauno regioninis inovaciju centras) and Turkey (Konya İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü).

The project recognized the importance and necessity of improving the system of continuous teacher trainings in the field of digital competences. The project was dedicated to the development of a series of open educational resources (OER) for teachers’ trainings in the field of digital competences as well as the knowledge evaluation after completion of their courses. The important goal of this project was to develop a system of professional trainings and assessments with minimal financial investments, through the introduction of external evaluation by other participants (peer review), and avoid the existing practice of mentor evaluation.

The project activities were:

  • five online courses content development;
  • e-learning portal content development;
  • development of a system for knowledge assessment and evaluation;
  • testing of a portal;
  • teacher trainings for acquisition of digital competences.

Through the activities mentioned above, teachers were trained to use information and communication technologies (ICT) to teach, collaborate and communicate as well as to use tools for e-content creation, all in a reliable and critical manner.

The project received support of EUR 126.912,00. It was implemented between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2016.
