The 18th Lifelong Learning Week was officially opened in Edison Cinema in Karlovac and will take place throughout Croatia until 10 December 2024, organized by the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education (ASOO).
After the opening speech by Mile Živčić, Director of ASOO, remarks were given by Draženka Sila Ljubenko, Head of the Department of Social Activities of the City of Karlovac, and Ivana Latković, Director of the Public Open University Pouka.
Dr. sc. Vesna Hajsan Dolinar, Deputy Prefect of Karlovac County, officially declared the 18th Lifelong Learning Week open.
At the celebration, guests enjoyed performances by the Vid Rukavina mixed choir of retirees and a group from the Karlovac Music School, as well as a performance by the Zorica Children’s Choir.
During the ceremony, the “Maslačak znanja” (Dandelion of Knowledge) award was presented to individuals Marina Štimac, Biserka Macan, and Mario Komorčec for their achievements in adult learning — recognizing those who, despite challenging circumstances, chose to expand their knowledge and skills.
Additionally, Certificates of Recognition for Contributions to the Development of Adult Education were awarded. The Scientific Contribution prize was given to Assoc. Prof. Dr. sc. Siniša Kušić, and the Professional Contribution awards were given to Heni Strčić and Ivan Žižić for their engagement in improving the adult education system.
As part of the opening, the 16th Lifelong Learning Fair was held, where adult education institutions showcased their programs to the public.
