Project presentation “Access to education by students with disabilities” IPA Component IV – Human Resources Development - EU PROGRAMME for Croatia

The ceremony of the project opening of the IPA Component IV Project “Access to education by students with disabilities” was held on Friday, 26 March 2010. The project is implemented by a GET German Education and Training GmbH led consortium, in partnership with Tau on-line d.o.o. (MojPosao.net), Aarhus Tech, S.I.C.I. Dominus and Gesellschaft für Versicherungswirtschaft und Gestaltung whose main beneficiary and project partner is the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia.
The total value of the project is 994,980 Euro. It is funded by the European Union Programme for Croatia, IPA Component IV – Human Resources Development. The Project commenced in February 2010, and its completion is scheduled for September 2011.
 
Mr Želimir Janjić, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (MSES) and Mr Jean-Marie Moreau, Head of Operations Section 1 - Social cohesion, regional development and infrastructure of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Croatia welcomed all present. Afterwards, representatives of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (MSES), as a project partner, and Agency for Vocational Education and Training (AVET), as contracting authority, presented the wider context of the project implementation. The project team leader, Mr David Lowther, along with the rest of the experts on this project, presented the project and the activities which will be implemented in detail.
 
The overall objective of this project is to ensure educational accomplishment for the students with disabilities, in compliance with their needs, their labour market abilities and their entire social integration. The purpose of this project is to develop the key elements for innovative mechanisms that will allow students with disabilities access to vocational education and labour market at the national and regional level.
 
These results will be realized during the project:
 
-         selected programmes for vocational education by students with disabilities (for 4 vocations) are modernized within 2 sectors: tourism and catering as well as agriculture, nutrition and animal health
-         established quality and sustainable system of vocational improvement by educators who are working with students with disabilities in the field of vocational education
-         grant beneficiaries are better informed and introduced to the procedures and mechanisms related to implementation of grants within IPA programme
-         established recommendations for harmonization of relevant legislation in the field of education by students with disabilities
-         improved training by the employers for implementation of mechanisms in practical education
