Project presentation “Further Development of the Croatian Qualification Framework (CROQF)” IPA Component IV – Human Resources Development - EU PROGRAMME for Croatia

A presentation of the IPA Component IV Project “Further Development of the Croatian Qualification Framework” was held on Tuesday, 16 March, 2010. The project is implemented by a WYG International Ltd. led consortium, in partnership with TribalHelm, whose main beneficiary and project partner is the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia.
Total value of the project is 1,468,000 Euro. It if funded by the European Union Programme for Croatia, IPA Component IV – Human Resources Development. The Project commenced on 18 January, 2010, and its completion is scheduled for 18 June, 2011.
Around 75 invitees and representatives from various government and public institutions, educational institutions, Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Croatia, industry representatives, non-governmental organizations, trade unions, the media and other projects funded by the European Union, were welcomed by Mr Ivan Šutalo, Director of the Agency for Vocational Education and Training (AVET) and Mr Želimir Janjić, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (MSES).
The welcome address was followed by a presentation by Ms Christina Anne Tkalec, Head of Tender Preparation and Contract Implementation Section of the Agency for Vocational Education and Training, Department for Financing and Contracting of IPA (DEFCO), who gave an overview of the European Union IPA project for the Republic Croatia, with a special emphasis on the Component IV – Human Resources Development, and by a presentation by Ms Marinela Krešo, beneficiary institution"s project manager, Department for Lifelong Learning and EU Funds Management within the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, who referred to the project"s context and presented the sectoral role of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sorts regarding the IPA Programme.
The national and European context of the CROQF was presented by Mr Mile Dželalija, prof., from the University of Zadar, who is the head of the Operative Team in support to the CROQF Development Committee.
The main project activities and planned outcomes were presented by the project team composed of: Ms Agnes Wollschlaeger, Project Team Leader and Key Expert for the European Qualification Framework; Mr Peter Debreczeni, Legal Expert, and Mr Mike Sell, National Qualification Framework Capacity Building Expert.
The overall objective of the project is to ensure continuous improvement of the education system in Croatia related to the transferability and recognition of competences and qualifications in compliance with the labour market needs at the national / EU level so as to support system transparency and mobility as well as employability of Croatian citizens.
