Adult Education

Government of Croatia has recognized the importance of adult education by making significant institutional and legislative changes in the adult education sector in the past several years.

In February 2004, Adult Education Council was formed, which created the Strategy for Adult Education and the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy. Furthermore, in May 2006, Agency for the Adult Education was established by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Croatia (Official Gazette 59/06).

In 2007, Adult Education Act was passed which, for the first time, regulated the normative framework for making adult education an integral and equally important part of the Croatian education system. In 2008, four by-laws were enacted and their adoption is regulated by the Adult Education Act: By law on Public Certificates in Adult Education, By-law on Standards and Specifications in Adult Education Institutions, By-law on the Contents, Form and Methods of Keeping Andragogical Documentation and By-law on Records in Adult Education Institutions.
